Donald C. Jackson is a professor with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at Mississippi State University. He received his B.S (1973) and M.S. (1977) from the University of Arkansas. Following two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malaysia on the faculty of the National University of Malaysia, and seminary studies in Lexington, Kentucky, Jackson began doctoral studies, receiving a Ph.D. from Auburn University in 1985. He spent one year at the University of Alaska on a postdoctoral teaching appointment before joining the Mississippi State University faculty (1986). His primary professional interests are river fisheries and international development. He is probably best known for his work with floodplain rivers and catfishes. Jackson has advised 17 M.S and 10 Ph.D. students and is author or coauthor of over 70 peer-reviewed publications.

Wayne A. Hubert is the leader of the Wyoming Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and a professor in the Department of Zoology and Physiology, University of Wyoming. He received his B.S. (1969) from Illinois State University, M.S. (1972) from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech (1979). He served as an aquatic biologist with the Tennessee Valley Authority from 1972 to 1979 and as the assistant leader of the Iowa Cooperative Fisheries Research at Iowa State University from 1979 to 1982. He became the assistant leader-fisheries at the Wyoming Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit in 1982 and leader of the unit in 2005. His research has focused on relationships between fishes and their habitats, particularly in lotic systems of the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains. He has advised or co-advised over 80 graduate students and authored or co-authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.

William L. Fisher is a research fishery biologist and leader of the New York Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and an associate professor in the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University. He received his B.A. (1976) from University of Louisville, M.A. (1979) from DePauw University, and Ph.D. from University of Louisville (1987). He served as a water quality biologist with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (1979-1980), and stream ecologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Auburn University (1989-1991), and assistant leader of the Oklahoma Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at Oklahoma State University (1991-2008). His research focuses on: applications of geographic information systems in fisheries, management of recreational fisheries, conservation of rare and declining fishes, and sustainable water resources management. He has advised or co-advised 20 graduate students, authored or co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and co-edited the AFS book titled Geographic Information Systems in Fisheries in 2004. He is an AFS Certified Fisheries Professional.

John is a professor in the Department of Biology at North Carolina State University. Previously he had worked for the USFWS and NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service for close to 35 years, including positions as a member of the FWS National Power Plant Team, co-manager of the USFWS/NMFS Emergency Striped Bass Study, Director of the UMass/NOAA Cooperative Marine Education and Research Program, Director of the NMFS Northeast Fisheries Science Center, and Director of the NMFS Office of Science and Technology. He received his undergraduate degree from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and his MS and PhD from Cornell University. His research interests have centered on population dynamics of coastal migratory fishes. He has advised or co-advised 22 MS and PhD students, and has authored or co-authored over 60 publications. He is a Fellow with the American Institute of Fishery Research Biologists and an AFS Certified Fisheries Professional.

Bill obtained a B.Sc. (Hons.) in zoology from the University of British Columbia in 1967, and then moved to the University of Manitoba and earned a M.Sc. in fish biochemical genetics (1970) and a Ph.D. in lake whitefish zoogeography (1974). Bill has been an active research scientist at the Fisheries and Oceans Canada Freshwater Institute in Winnipeg since 1975. As an adjunct professor in the University of Manitoba Zoology Department since 1985, He has supervised or cosupervised 10 graduate students at the masters and doctoral levels. His broad interests have included the effects of heavy metal pollution on aquatic ecosystems, fish genetics, walleye stocking, instream flow issues, invasive aquatic species, and species at risk. He has authored or coauthored 45 published papers and reports, made dozens of presentations at scientific meetings, edited numerous scientific papers, and contributed to countless departmental submissions and reviews.
