Networking
- Bioengineering Section ListServe. Our mission is to promote excellence in the field of fisheries bioengineering through improved communication between biologists, engineers, and other professionals working for the conservation of fisheries resources. The Bioengineering Section maintains a ListServe as our primary tool to support this communication. The ListServe can be used to solicit and distribute bioengineering information, to solicit interest on initiatives (like symposia at Annual or Division/Chapter meetings), and to make announcements on bioengineering-related issues.
- American Fisheries Society (AFS). The American Fisheries Society and its various divisions, chapters, sections, and committees are currently supported by over forty Internet web sites. This site also provides links to a number of aquaculture and fishery sites outside the AFS.
- Aquatic Network (AquaNet) provides information on a broad range of aquatic topics, including aquaculture, conservation, education, fisheries, marine science and oceanography, maritime heritage, ocean engineering, and seafood. The Aquatic Network includes databases, news, articles, employment and business opportunities, publications, an online store, and a products/services directory.
- FAO Fisheries Statistics. Provides a wealth of information on global fisheries statistics, and miscellaneous documents on the status and prospects for capture fisheries. There are also links to fisheries software developed by the FAO.
How does one post to the ListServe? Simply send a message to bioeng@lists.fisheries.org. Appropriate messages will then be approved by the ListServe Administrators. If for some reason the material is deemed inappropriate, the message will not be approved, and an explanation will be provided
Who may participate on the ListServe? All members of the Bioengineering Section are eligible to be on the listserve. Every 6-months or so, the Section receives a membership update from AFS and new names are added. Members who do not renew are deleted after two years. In special circumstances non-members may be included on the ListServe, particularly our international colleagues with similar bioengineering interests. If you have a recommendation for inclusion, send it directly to one of the Section officers (see the Contacts Tab on our home page).

FishPass.org
FishPass.org (formerly FishPass mail list) is a website sponsored as a project of the Bioengineering Section of the American Fisheries Society with support from Oregon State University.
There are now several forums on a variety of topics related to fish passage and beyond. These are free unmoderated forums for professional discussion of the biological and engineering science of upstream and downstream fish passage. Areas of discussion include fish passage technologies, projects, swimming capabilities and behavior and biological and engineering studies and events. There are currently about 500 registered users from more than 20 countries.
