2010 Continuing Education Survey

• Two New Chapter Officers were elected recently:

  Trent Sutton was elected as Chapter Vice President
  Julie Bednarski was elected as Chapter Secretary

  The rest of your Executive Committee (ExComm) is now comprised of the following officers:

  Toshihide "Hamachan" Hamazaki is Past President
  Lisa Stuby advanced to the President position at the 2009 annual conference
  Audra Brase advanced to the President-Elect position at the 2009 annual conference
  Lee Ann Gardner is the Chapter's Treasurer
  Sara Miller is the new Student Subunit representative on the Chapter's ExComm

• Call for 2010 Chapter Award Nominations
  
  The Chapter is soliciting nominations for four awards, the Meritorious Service Award (MSA), the Chapter Service Award (CSA), the Almost Darwin Award, and the Wally Noerenberg Award for Fishery Excellence. We encourage all members to consider nominating deserving individuals. NEW starting this year --- The nomination deadline has been moved up to 31 JANUARY 2010!!! Please use the form available in the page at the link above to nominate candidates for awards. Award presentations will occur at the 2010 Annual Chapter Meeting.
   
• At the 2009 Annual Conference held this year in Fairbanks the following Awards for 2009 were announced, Check out the recipients!!!
   
  • 2009 Wally Noerenberg Award for Fishery Excellence
  • 2009 Cultural Diversity Travel Award

  • 2009 Molly Ahlgren Scholarship Award

  • 2009 Best Student Paper/Poster Awards

• The Fall 2009 and the Special Election Edition of the Chapter Oncorhynchus newsletter is available for download/viewing. The most recent newsletters have been posted on line in PDF format and you will need Adobe reader to view them (See the Newsletter Index for links to earlier editions).
   
• Posted the 2009 Committee Reports and archived the 2008 Committee Reports
   
• Updated the Chapter's History, Meeting Index, History of Awards, History of Meeting Locations and Chapter Officers, and Committee pages for 2009 events, etc.
   
• Also moved out-of-date announcements from the main Chapter page to the Archives page

• The How to have More Productive Meetings of the Continuing Education courses was canceled, and the Pre-registration form was updated to reflect the cancellation. In regards to the cancellation, the CE committee chairs note the following:

Margo Matthews and Teri Arnold are available to teach a half-day or full-day version of this course during fall/winter 2009/2010, at your worksite and tailored to your agency needs. Please contact the Continuing Education committee, Jan Conitz (465-4125; jan.conitz@alaska.gov) or Tammy Hoem (796-5460; tammyhoem@yahoo.com) for more information.

• Posted information on ordering (including pictures) for the AK Chapter Series #2 Arctic grayling t-shirts on the Memorabilia page.

• The Student Subunit's main web-page has been updated to include information on the 2009-2010 officers and the faculty advisor contact information for the Fairbanks Campus Group has been posted.
   
• Updated the Officers and Committee Chairs page (aka Contacts) for 2008-2009 (and archived the 2007-2008 page)
   
• At the 2008 Annual Conference held last year in Anchorage the following Awards for 2008 were announced, Check out the recipients!!!
