Colorado-Wyoming Chapter

Best Paper Award

The award for “Best Paper” begun in 1970 when Chapters were requested by the Western Division to select the best paper presented at the Chapter meeting. The paper selected would be given at the Western Division meeting. The “Best Paper” award has changed through the years. In 1972, the Best Paper Award Committee recommended that there be two awards, one for management papers and one for research papers. Beginning in 1977, the award was presented for best papers in several categories-management/research, fish culture, poster display and student paper. In 1983, the Imler Photo Award was added to the “Best Paper” Award in honor of Richard Imler, Colorado Division of Wildlife. In 1991, the “Best Paper Award” was renamed the “Richard Imler Best Paper Award.” Presently, an award for best professional paper, best student paper and best poster are awarded at the Colorado-Wyoming AFS Annual Meeting.
