Best Student Paper Award
Award of Recognition
Outstanding Service Award
Best Student Paper Award (Top)
Students are encouraged to present papers on completed research, work in progress or proposals. Students
are defined as those who are currently registered in an institution of higher learning and attending full time or recent
graduates (up to one year) who have not yet found permanent employment. Undergraduate, as well as graduate students are
invited to give papers. Winners are encouraged, but not required, to give their presentations at higher level AFS
society meetings.

2003 Fall Technical Meeting - There was a $200 cash prize for first place and a
$100 prize for the runner-up. Each student who presented a poster was given a free membership to both the parent
society and student subsection of the education section.

2001 Fall Technical Meeting - The award consisted of a grant to travel to the
parent society meeting in Baltimore, Aug 18-22, 2002. The grant will pay for registration, lodging and meals, up to
$300.

This "certificate of appreciation" from the Pennsylvania chapter recognized Chuck's long record of service and
dedication to the chapter. Chuck became a chapter member in the early 70's and served as Newsletter Editor from 1983
to 1987. Chuck is retiring from the PFBC and moving to Tennessee, but still plans to remain active in AFS through the
Tennessee chapter. The photo shows EXCOMM members J.R. Holtsmaster and Mike Hendricks presenting the certificate to

The "Outstanding Service Award" was given to our Secretary-Treasurer for his tireless work on behalf of the Chapter.
The photo shows the outgoing president, Dick Soderberg, presenting the plaque to Mike at the summer picnic.
