Ph.D. Assistantship in Fish Environmental Physiology

A Ph.D. Assistantship in Fish Environmental Physiology/Culture is currently available. There are two possible avenues of research:

  1. Examining physiological aspects of migration and associated behavior in early life history stages of paddlefish (Polyodon spathula), a long-lived, primitive, freshwater migratory species.

  2. Studying the physiology of euryhaline and marine species in inland, marine aquaculture systems. Research will be focused on ionoregulation and calcium handling as they pertain to growth and development.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in comparative physiology, fisheries ecology, biology or related field with competitive GPA and GRE scores. Research experience utilizing laboratory and field techniques as well as a demonstrated publication record are preferred. Expected start date: August 1, 2010

Position includes $21,000/yr stipend, tuition waiver and health insurance. The start date is August 1, 2010.
